Choose

Choosing a laptop is easy once you decide what you need it for. Below are the key specifications and minimum recommendations for different tasks.

Processor

In the Intel Core i3/i5/i7 and AMD Ryzen 3/5/7 families the number shows the class: a higher number usually means more performance. A "U" at the end of the model normally means low power (thin laptops), while "H" means higher performance. MacBooks use Apple's own M-series processors.

NPU - neural processing unit

An NPU accelerates AI tasks in compatible applications, such as video-call background effects. Performance is often measured in TOPS. NPU TOPS is different from total platform TOPS, which can include the CPU and GPU. An NPU is not essential for everyday computing; check the requirements of the applications you plan to use.

Memory (RAM)

8 GB is enough for everyday use: browser, office, video. 16 GB is recommended if you run many programs at once or play games. Some laptops cannot be upgraded later, so choose the size you need when buying.

SSD storage

An SSD is much faster than an HDD and boots the laptop quickly. 256 GB is the minimum, 512 GB or more is comfortable.

Display

Full HD (1920×1080) with an IPS or OLED panel is the minimum for good colours and viewing angles. For gaming, 120 Hz or more gives smoother motion.

Graphics

Integrated graphics are enough for office and study tasks. Games and 3D work need a dedicated graphics card, for example an RTX-series model.

Operating system and Windows

Laptops often come with FreeDOS at the moment, meaning no operating system is pre-installed. If a laptop does not include a Windows licence, you either buy one yourself or have us install Windows 11 for 35 GEL (tick "Windows 11 installation" in the order form and the amount is added to the total). All Apple MacBooks come with macOS pre-installed.
